Confusing words:

1. Advise, Advice

Advise (مشورہ دینا ) - Offer suggestions about the best course of action to someone.

Advice (مشورہ) - an opinion or recommendation offered as a guide to action, conduct, etc.

Example: He advised me to give her an advice on what to wear for the party.
(اس نے مجھے صلح دی کہ میں اسے یہ صلح دوں کہ اسے پارٹی میں کیا پہننا چاہیے)

2. Weather, Whether

Weather (موسم) - the state of the atmosphere at a particular place and time as regards heat, cloudiness, dryness, sunshine, wind, rain, etc.

Whether (چاہے /یا )- expressing a doubt or choice between alternatives.

Example: Whether you agree to it or not, the weather has become cold.
(چاہے تم مانو یا نا مانو، موسم بہت ٹھنڈا ھو گیا ہے)

3. Alter, Altar

Alter (بدلنا/ تبدیل کرنا ) - change in character or composition, typically in a comparatively small but significant way.

Altar (مذبح) - An elevated place or structure before which religious ceremonies may be enacted or upon which sacrifices may be offered.

Example: We need to alter the altar. It is very old now.

(ھمے مذبح  کی جگہ بدلنا ہوگا ۔ وہ بہت پرانا ہوگیا ہے)

4. Principal, Principle

Principal(سربراه) - first in order of importance; main.

Principle (اصول ) - morally correct behaviour and attitudes.

Example: The principal of that school is a man of principles.

(اس اسکول کے سربراه بہت اصول والے آدمی ہیں )

5. Bare, Bear

Bare (ننگا ) - (of a person or part of the body) not clothed or covered.

Bear (ریچه/ بھالو ) -  a large, heavy mammal which walks on the soles of its feet, having thick fur and a very short tail

Bear (تکلیف اٹھانا/برداشت کرنا) - support; carry the weight of.

Example: The bear was bare. He was bearing the weight of the tree.

(ریچھ ننگا تھا ۔ وہ جھاڑ کا وزن اٹھایا ہوا تھا )

6. Whole, Hole

Whole (پورا) - all of; entire.

Hole (سوراخ) - a hollow place in a solid body or surface.

There were holes in the whole cake.

(پورے کیک میں سوراخ تھے)

7. Prey, Pray

Prey (شکار) - an animal that is hunted and killed by another for food.

Pray (عبادت کرنا/دعا کرنا) -  address a prayer to God or another deity.

The elephant fell prey to the tiger and got hurt. Everybody was praying for the elephant to get well soon.
(ہاتھی شیر کا شکار ھو گیا تھا اور اسے زخم لگے ۔ سب دعا کر رہے تھے کی ہاتھی جلد ھی ٹھیک ھو جائے)
